Bat Cat

Check out Mitsy’s halloween costume.

Ajax is the joker but his costume is too big.

Now all I need is some cat crime to fight and cat criminal underworld to dominate. You know what would be cool is if the cats actually liked to wear costumes, that way when they wrestled it would be classic Batman vs. Joker action.

Obama and Palin coming to Mercenaries 2

simon | Games, Politics, funny | Friday, October 31st, 2008

It’s not enough that Obama is advertising in your video games, now you can PLAY as him.  Developer Pandemic will soon offer Obama and Palin characters as downloadable content in Mercenaries 2.  Check out this video it’s awesomely hilarious:

The developer is not able to include a McCain character at this time due to the fact that his only ability is crashing planes. I’m Barack Obama and I approve this missile.

Update: YES THIS IS REAL. Mercenaries 2 is a real game, it is actually this ridiculous with the tank and helichopter hijacking.

Presidential Debates Synchronized

Happy Halloween! Here is a scary video for you to enjoy:

Isn’t that crazy how they sync up with themselves so well? I guess they feel safe with their memorized lines, they don’t want something like this to happen:

Obama’s In-Game Ad

simon | Games, Politics, Software, Tech, internet | Thursday, October 16th, 2008

Barack Obama’s ubiquitous advertising on TV, the internet, print, and on the ground is not enough. Obama is also showing up IN YOUR VIDEO GAMES! “Hey!”, says Obama as you drive by at 247 MPH, “Why not take a break from virtually driving your car in a reckless manner and vote for change?”

Obama vs. McCain: Web Battle

simon | Politics, funny, internet | Friday, October 10th, 2008

Here is a great article that compares Obama and McCain’s web presence.

I spent some time this morning examining the technology policies of Barack Obama and John McCain. Policies aside, I was immediately struck by the differences between their web sites. So what do the two sites say about the candidates?

Two Different Platforms
The candidates’ platforms could not be more different: JohnMcCain(.com) relies on corporate backing for his web site, which runs on Microsoft Internet Information Server and uses ASP. Barack Obama, in contrast, relies on widespread contributions from the community, in the form of open-source web technologies (PHP and Apache).

Ajax eats grasshoppers

simon | Cats, Photography | Friday, October 10th, 2008

Sometimes I eat grasshoppers too. They are tasty.

Ajax is a natural hunter because he was a stray.  My other cat, Mitsy sucks at killing and eating things however.  One time she saw a chipmunk and tried to be friends with it instead of biting it, I mean seriously what the hell.  I expected her natural hunting instincts to take over but I guess she is too domesticated.

Xbox 360 Fall Update

simon | Games, Software, Tech | Friday, October 10th, 2008

I can’t wait for the upcoming update the Xbox 360’s dashboard (operating system). The new menu actually looks pretty lame and annoying but there are two important features I am excited about.

From majornelson.com

Play from hard drive. Copy your games from the game disc and play directly from the hard drive. Not only will the drive not spin, but load times are quicker, as well. Of course, you will still need the disc in the tray to prove you own the game.

Awesome! I did not expect this feature, but I am so happy Microsoft is adding this. As an owner of a 360 with a failing DVD drive, this feature will be a godsend. At the most inopportune moments, when I am deep in a game without a recent save, my DVD drive will stop spinning and crash my game. Microsoft did not repair this when I sent it in, and they do not cover faulty DVD drives under their warranty, which is atrocious.

LIVE Party system. Create a party of up to eight friends, and stay with them from one game to another, or watch a Netflix movie together, or share a slideshow of your personal photos. It works with all Xbox 360 titles, not just upcoming games. LIVE Party allows up to eight people to chat in the dashboard, so you can meet up before playing.

Wow another great feature that I did not expect. This will make it so much easier to get friends together for online gaming.

New display support. Because you asked for it, we are adding 16X10 over VGA or HDMI, and support for 1440×900 or 1680×1050.

I’m also pleased to see they are finally adding in full support 16×10 aspect VGA monitors and more display resolutions. It’s a little late though.

Oh yea and the 360 will be able to play Netflix’s vast library of on-demand movies.

The update will be available November 19th.
