Whack-A-Kitty
This is why kittens were invented.
This morning I took a stroll around the reflecting pool. I have a nice map of my journey because all photos shot with an iPhone 3G are geotagged.

I had to lay down on the sidewalk to get the sun to bloom through the tree without cutting off the top of the Washington Monument.
I previously blogged rumors about the new iPhone. As we get closer to the release date (July 17th) more and more rumors are leaking from manufacturers and Apple insiders who supposedly already have the new iPhone in hand. A leaked screen shot which seems to be legit confirms the storage capacity increased to 32 GB.

The new feature I am most excited about is the digital compass (confirmed). It will be nice to have the Google Maps app point you in the correct direction, street view will be badass, photos can be tagged with a compass bearing. It is also possible that based off a reference point, the compass and accelerometer could be used to navigate in 3D space, even in underground tunnels with no GPS or AGPS signal. The GPS, compass, accelerometer and camera can work in tandem to revolutionize location awareness.
The rumored OLED display will also be a great improvement. There is no reason Apple can’t implement this display technology in their next iPhone because LG and Samsung already have OLED handsets on the market. The advantages of OLED are numerous:
OLEDs do not have a backlight, the OLED element emits light directly, which means the viewing angle is 180° with no degradation of picture quality. No backlight means the display is thinner allowing the iPhone to be thinner. It also allows the display to consume less power and it does not draw power to display black. LCDs cannot display true blacks because of the backlight, OLEDs are capable of true black which significantly improves color accuracy. When I watch Star Wars on my iPhone, I want the blackness of space to be black!
Other rumors:
Please please please add wireless charging like the Palm Pre. I’ll be so jealous when the Pre launches on June 6th with wireless charging, if the new iPhone doesn’t do this it could be the greatest tragedy of all time. But it would make the iPhone thicker, if the iPhone is as thin as the iPod Touch I could let it slide.
I just finished Lemonade Tycoon, a recently released free iPhone game from EA. It shows you an ad about every 10 minutes but they are really easy to skip so I’m cool with that.
You can adjust your lemonade recipe, set your price, and choose the most profitable venue based on the weather forecast. On a sunny hot day I can charge $2.50 a cup and those suckers at the beach have to suck it up and pay. If you like Tycoon-style games from EA this is a great iPhone port.

Half-Life is the best game of all time. It is an immersive, continuous adventure pioneering interactive story-telling and game balance. If you enjoy first person shooters and you have not played Half-Life what the hell is wrong with you! It is universally acclaimed, the saga places in the top games of all time on gamerankings.com. Stop what you are doing and play it immediatly.
If you are alread a fan you will enjoy this world record speed run. I have been on a speed run kick lately (see the 100mph speed run through Paris video), because they are the ultimate skill showcase. Spider-Waffle completed Half-Life in less than 30 minutes, a game that usually takes at least 20 hours to beat. See speeddemosarchive.com for more information.
I love me some time lapse photography, and I love me some robots cleaning my house.
The new AT&T iPhone app is pretty cool. It let’s you manage your wireless account from your phone with much of the same features available on AT&T’s website. You view your bill summary, pay it, and even view a PDF of your full bill. You can add and remove features from your plan, such as text messaging and roaming packages. It’s also nice to finally be able to view your minutes usage without having to request a text message from AT&T.
